KING'S BIRTHDAY PARADE
KEVIEW BY SIR, lAN HAMILTON. The defence authorities liavo decided to hold parades of troops at all local centres in the Wellington district on Wednesday week. June 3, in honour of the King's Birthday. The parado in Wellington will take place at Newtown Park, where the troops will bo reviewed by General Sir lan Hamilton, liispeetorGeneral of Oversea Defence Forces. The Um do jeie will be fired at 9 a.m., aud it is estimated that tlto function will bo over, and tho men on .tljoir way liomo three-quarters afi hour later. Tho Boynl New Z&iland Garrison Artillery in Wellington will fir© a royal salute (21 guns).
The parades of Territorials will he compulsory, and will «ount as irliolo day parades, hi any local centres where there are insufficient troops to Jiold a review, tho men of tho defence forces arc expected, to participate in any celebrations'that may bo conducted by tho local authorities. Tho senior cadets of ttio "Wellington District {who liavo been reviewed by General Hamilton during Inst week) will not be .required, to attend tho Birthday parade'. Though nothing is yet definitely decided, there may he further shooting at the Devon wreck from Fort Dawsoii on King's Birthday. ,
