INJUSTICE AS AN AID TO THE BIBLE.
® r > Tiio Rev. R- Wood, in his usual eflervescent stj*k>, rails at mo throughout a column or so in your issue of 13- His wain po'iiifc seems to be; \\ 1)v docs tho National Schools Defence League show "irreconcilable antagonism'' to the Biblo in State schools and right of entry proposals ? . H<> chooses to ignore the fact that m my former letter, from tho public utterances of his own supporters, w'z., Dean Fitchett, Bishops Julius and fMlier, and the Revs. forter and Davics, [ snowed that the scheme is an unjust one. W ill tho Rev. R. Wood assert that the cause of the Bible, of Christianity, of religious instruction can bo fostered by injustice? If h« disputes tho injustice,. I hereby again ofc-vr to debate publicly in Wellington, ciiristchurcli, or Dunedin ihs question. "Are the proposals of the BiMo-in-Statc-Schools and Right of Entry League just/>r unjust?'"' I hops the Rev, R, Wood will not shuffle. J would - let him fix almost any conditions he likes, and I Tvill agree to take the definitions of justice and injustice given 'by Garland and Doaa Fitchett.- As Christians we oppose the proposal to cover injustice with the cry of "Tho Bible." The Bible says, "What doth the Lord requiro of thee but-'to do justly, to mercy, and t-o walls humbly'with thy God." If the Iter. R. Wood likes to ' select, some other champion iii place of : himself, I shall bo quite agreeable.—l alii, etc., JOHN CAUGHLEY.
