London, April 23. The Countess Do La Warr has been granted a decree nisi. [Tho Countess is a daughter of Colonel C. Lennox Tredcroft, of Glen Ancrum, Guildford. The Earl, born in 1869, was also—in 1902— divorced by his first wife, the Hon. Muriel Agnes Brassey, second daughter of Lord Brassey.]

London, April 23. A horse was maliciously maimed—a gash thirteen inches long and' two inches in depth being inflicted—at Wednesbury, Staffordshire.
GYROSCOPE MOTOR-CARS,
London, April 23. A motor-oar on two wheels placed controlly in the chassis has been built to tho order of M. Schilowsky, a Russian lawyer, by Wolslcy's firm 111 England. The power is devised by a gyroscope in the centre of the chassis, below tho front seats, which is electrically driven. —"Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
THE SUTTEE FETISH IN INDIA.
Calcutta, April 23. Tho wife of a Lemindar, aged 26, drenched her clothee with kerosene two minutes after her husband's death, and Betting fire to herself was burned to death. 'The double funeral was attended by a huge crowd, the self-immolation of the wifo being generally considered to have" been a highly meritorious act.— "Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
