Shipowners engaged in the. frozen meat trade announce that they prefer the coldor route via Capo Horn to the Panama Canal route. Tho latter is a hot water route, .tho temperature forcing the refrigerating machines to work longer. \Vhen the water is at 8-ldeg. tho machines work from twelve, to fifteen hours daily, whereas when tho temperature is 57 dep. the machines work nine hours daily. .
