Further news of tho sanguinary battie which was fought between 1 a, body of United States troops and. an organised body of armed strikers/ at Trinidad, Colorado, show twenty-sis persons were killed through tho burning of strikers tents, when the State troops shelled them with machine guns. .... Three women and a number of babies are amongst the dead. ■ One man. tried to save his baby sister, wlio had scrambled out of a trench in which the strikers had, taken refuge. • ■•' ''. ■ I ' . Explosives used by the strikers exploded, killing several. During the bombardment it is believed women and children were suffocated when they sought , refuge in a, cavo near the tent colony. Serious developments in a etriko of workers at the second Simplon Tunnel ]ias necessitated Italy sending troopß to the southern end of tho tunnel. Tho strikers laid dynamite above the houses occupied by the engineers and managers, and an explosion at midnight eent htigo boulders tumbling down into tho valley where- tho houses were situated.
