• EXTENSION DECIDED ON. The Abattoirs Committee recommended to the council last night that author-; j'tv should be granted for work (as M- < co'mmetided 'by the engineer) at .the Municipal Abattoirs, to cost hi all £lSt?O. This sum included £650 for addrtitins to the kef room, eufficient to increase hanging spa«o by 50 percent.; £BSO lor new -wavered sheep .yards; and £120 for new boiler house and alterations to tnpo house. Tli© committee .recommended ■ tlat the money should, he paid out of revenue money ia hand, and the abattoir renewal and depreciation fund. The committee, amongst otttef things, recommeaded that the 'WdllhiEton lave -.StoHc Butehers , Association should be informed that the council could their wav to alter ttie 'present conditions with respect to the cleaning of tripe. (The butchers asked that, the tripes euould W cleaned on Sundays when slaughtering took p.lsc® on that day.! Councillor J- ftodber, chairman of tho ■couMßtttw,- said that the work at. the abattoirs had greatly increased over what was anticipated: when tne abattoirs were erected: fl« would prefer.
