The Ashburton "Guardian" has been informed that on Saturday a \ deputation representing tho Ashburton NoLicense Council took advantage of the presence in Ashburton of the member for the district. (Mr.'W. Nosworthy) to wait upon him to ascertain his views and attitude in regard to National Prohibition and the local option questions. The first question asked Mr. Nosworthy by tho deputation was whether ho was ill favour of the reduction of the vote for National Prohibition from tho twothirds majority to eleven-twentieths, and tho reply was ■in the affirmative. The second question was in connection with tho local option vote reduction, and Mr. Nosworthy again said that ho would vote in favour of the 55 per cent, majority. ■ The next question wa3 in regard to tho reduction of tho time' limit, which at present is , four years after National Prohibition has been , carried. Mr. Nosworthy replied that he was not prepared to promiso anything on that point at present. Ho gave his pledge, however, not to vote for any retrogressive measuro that might bo brought forward.
