The inspector , stated that ho had received a complaint on March 14 regarding . the treatment cf a .horse by a driver, and on ' inspection he had found that the animal had a number of sores on its body. A constable had seen the animal being worked on the day that it was'suffering from these sores. It was decided to institute proceedings. The inspector also reported that, on Tuesday, March 17, he had received a complaint regarding two horses which were yoked to a load of sand'and were severely whipped and struck with a long-handled shovel. Ho had made sevefal inquiries, but had been unable to , trace.the,person lesponsible. Subscriptions were received and acknowledged'as follow;— Mr. JVH. 6. Rowley, £1 Is.; Mrs". C.
