SOON TO BE OURS.

HANDING OVER THE PHILOMEL. The Hon; J. Allen' informed a reporter yesterday that tliore is now every prospect of ithe Philomel being handed over to tlio New Zealand Government in a few months' time. The- Imperial authorities have to appoint a commander for the ship, who will bo the naval adviser to the Govornmont, and a crew signet} on probably for .three years, will also be found by tho Admiralty. "Already," said Mr. Allen,* "I have had a number of applications from young meu who would bo willing to entor on tho courso or training for- tho British Navy for whioh tho Philomol is to be utilised, althougli tho -Government has not yet made any appeal to tho public on tho subject. The number of men for training that tho ship can accommodate is about sixty, and I do not anticipate any difficulty in finding that number."
