THE BOS MENACE.

The fortnightly' meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening. Those present woro tho Mayor (Mr. C. Cat-hie), and Councillors Burn, Bradnook, Davis, Henderson, and Boyes. • Tho competition with the trams likely to arise out' of tho commencement of tho motor-bus service in the borough was brought up by tho Mayor, who stated that he did not know when the buses were going to run, but evidently they were going to commenco very soon. There was some discussion on tho matter, and it was eventually dccided, oil tho motion of Councillor Hendorsoiij to refer tho matter to tno "ram Committee for a report. Councillor Henderson remarked that ho did. not think that tho borough was going to be ruined by the competition in 14 days, and there was no Harm m deferring tho matter till then. "What we do do, however," ho remarked, ' wo will do well." . For tho information of tho council a letter was received from the City Council in which the City Engineer reported the estimated cost of supplying water and drainage for that portion of tho borough of Karori drain-ng towards tho liaiwarra-Stream, %nd concerning which provision had been mado by Act of Parliament to enable tho work to bo carried out. Tho cost for tho water supply was estimated at £10,441, which included a 200,000 gallon storage reservoir to cost. £2500. Tho cost of the drainage was estimated at £8146 18s. 6d. ' ■ In answer to tho council a letter or complaint to the Tramway Traffic Su : perintendent in referenco to Karori Park cars not having tho proper destination sign showing, a letter was re- ! ceived stating that tho attention ot tlioso concorncd would bo drawn to tho matter and trusting that a deemed improvement would result. The engineer roportcd that tho i>lasara breakwind had been completed, and pronounced satisfactory when inspected by Mr. G. Monk.
