SALES OF THOROUCHBREDS.

Two important sales of thoroughbred horses will bo held at Palmerston North by Messrs. Abraham . and Williams. Ltd. On December 27 tho linn will offer, on account of Mr. G. P. Donnelly, Hawke's Bay, It thoroughbreds by the well-known sires Wohikore, Birkenhead, Formativo, Gold Reef, ami Tho Rand. Birkenhead is a son of Orme, out of Tragedy, and for several years has occupied "a leading position amongst the winning sires of tho Dominion, his sons and daughters during tho past seven years having annexed stako money totalling over £71,00!). Formative is a son of Beaton Delaval and Formula, tho latter maro. with Formativo' at foot, being purchased bv Mr. Donnelly for tho Bum of 1050 guineas, when tho Wellington Park Stud was dispersed in 1905. Seaton Delaval (imp.) by Melton (winner of the Derby. St Lcger, Newmarket Foal-Stakes, and Middle. Park Plate). Gold lleef, by Bend Or (winner of tho Derby, Clips, terlield, Richmond, and Champion Stakes). On December 20 tho firm will oiler on account of the Hon. J. D. Ormond, 17 two, three, and four-year fillies and geldings, 'by Birkenhead, Daunt, Formative, and Hvmettus. Daunt, by Dreadnought—Orientate, won tho Wanganui Derby, 1897, and tlio Wellington Cup in 1899. Hyinettus, bred in England in 1904, by.Cyllene out of Sweet Balsam, Sweet Balsam by Friar's Balsam out of Ennerdalo by Galliard out of Thirlmero by Doncaster. In addition to the above, tho following horses in training will bo offered: —Four-year bay gelding by Birkenhead —Aretlwsa, three-year bay gelding Zimmer, by Zinimennun (winner of many good races) out of Trentalto by Trenton, five-year , gelding Ainsdalo by Birkenhead—Enna '(winner of several races), four-vear mare Marimba, by Birkenhead Guitar. Tho salo will bo held at 10 a.m. in each case, to enable purchasers to attend tho races..
