Over a thousand special constables wcro entertained in the Town Hall last night, by tho Citizens' Defenco Committee, tho Mayor presiding. Major litisk, who took a prominent part in organising tho "specials." was presented with an illuminated address amidst prolonged and most enthusiastic cheering. Presentations were also mado to tho officers of tho "specials" and the farmers' wives, who wero chcered again and again. Tho announcement that tho seamen liad declared tho strike off provoked a storm of applauso and cheering.
