ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
' CROSSING SMASH. MAN KILLED & TRAP SMASHED. (By Telegraph.—Pre6S Association.) Dannevirke, September 26. A fatal accident oOcurrcd at Rawhiti Street crossing this morning. When tho second train from Palmerston was approaching Danucvirke, J. Brown, milkman, who was returning lwmc, allegedly attempted to cross 111 front ■of the train. His horse swerved, and tho eur. gino struck the cart; throwing Brown about thirty yards. Brown died 011 tho way to the hospital from fracture of the skull. Tho horse was also killed, and tho trap smashed to matchwood. • Der ceased had traversed the road daily for years.
