Amongst letters received by the Police Commissioner prior to the raid, one expressed a hope that he would not be bribed, and declared that ono cafe was a notorious den of immorality and drinking, being frequented by masked dancers, women smokers, and actresses tossing for sovereigns. Choice wines, the letter added, were supplied at from 15s. to 255. a bottle. The Commissioner hopes he will not bo compelled to publish names, which would be unkind. • o
