THE TENNIS PROPOSITION. Tho question of leasing portion of the Town Belt for tennis courts was beforo the City Council last evening:. On tho recommendation of tlio Reserves Oomnuttee, it was decided "that tho application of (ho Wellington I'rovinoial Tennis Association for a lease of about four acres of. Town Bolt at Elizabeth Street, and thoir proposal that tho council construct certain tennis courts, dressing-rooms, etc. (tlio association to repay tho money expended by yearly instalments) bo not agreed to in its present form, but that the association be informed that tho council would bo prepared to consider an application to leaso a portion of Town Belt, provided tho association is prepared to form tho courts at their own cost." . . ■
