Tho fourth annual Dominion Dairy Show was opened this morning in beautiful •'Weather, and generally under the nio.st.favourabls conditions. The entries are substantially satisfactory, while the exhibits stand very high indeed in the matter of quality, The butter and cheese exhibits were judged 'by members of tho Uovernmcnt dairy staff on Monday and Tuesday. Members of the stall' state tlmt (lie quality of cheese wax well up to the high standard seen at previous shows in il'aivwa. The cheese was of exceptionally clean appearance, reflecting credit on tlie managers and those ill chargo of tho storage. The cheeso that had been stored for two months was quite as good in appearance as tho article which came direct from the factory. The "quality and uniformity <if tho butter was good, and in two classes the lirst prize makes stood out by themselves. .There were ten entries for ths Ttvranaki championship, which was won by the Tariki factory, with 94! points, haponga 'factory being next with 9-1 points, and Kaupokonui Factory third with 03.!- points. The Taramiki championship in tho butter classes was awarded to the Eivwlalu Factory, with 9-li points, Bell Block 04 points, and Leppertou 935 points being next in order. Tariki won the Henry Lane challenge cup, valued at fifty guineas, presented to the maker scoring the highest-points in both classes, with an aggregate scoro of 1881 points. TIIO Tnieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company were tlie ruiiuors up with 187 points. 'The Shaw,, Savill and Albion challenge cup, valued/ at .£25, awarded to the maker scoring.' the highest aggregate points in all open classes for cheese-was also won by Tariki, with 13 points. Mr. T. M'filroy, manager of the Tariki Factory, therefore comes in for two very fine cups,, this being the second occasion lie lias won the Shaw, Savill arid Albion Cup. The butter and cheese results! are substantially the same as have appeared in Tub Dominion". To-mor-row 'a big military gymkhana is to be held. There was a very fine display of farm produce from six schools, the courts being very complete. The first prize was ,ClO, second .£2 10s., third .£1 10s„-and fourth ,Cl. Tho Hawcra School came lirst, Tokaora second, and Meremore and Fraser Road tied for third plaoe.
