THE PRICE OF CABLES. 4,
CANADA'S WIRELESS SCHEME. PACIFIC BOARD MANAGER'S VIEW. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Sydney, May 11. Mr. Milward, manager of the Pacific Cable Board, commenting on Canada's recently-announced contract with 'tha Poulseu Wireless Telegraphy Company, foreshadowed a reduction in the cost of coded cablcs to London from 3s. to 2s. 7d., saving J<l. a word. Though lis had no information from the London office on the matter, if the wireless system proved efficient and of benefit to the public, the Pacific Cable Company would certainly mako arrangements with the Poulsen Company to carry their messages to Australia. Whatever reduction in T atcs could be obtained would be passed on to the public. Mi the same lime Mr. Milward looked upon wirekss communication across the Atlantic as in a somewhat nebulous state. 'Something would have, to be dona 'to mako tho system more reliable than- <it present before it could bo generally-used for commercial and press purposes.
