At yesterday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council the county treasurer reported bank balances as follow:— General account (dr.), ,£1512 3s. Gd.; loan account (cr.), ,£252 12s. Id.; net debit balance, ,£I2S9 lis. 3d. The state of accounts for expenditure on March 31 was: Waitoki, 10s. Id. over-expended; Sandon, ,£156 TSs. 3d.; Mount Stewart,- .£'o2 2s. "d.; Rongotoa, .£7l os. 5d.; Carnarvon, ,£to Gs. Id.; Ivawakowa, .£221 7s. lid.; Awaliou, ,£l7O Bs. 5c1.; Whirokino, ,£2S Is. 9d.
The tramway manager reported that for tho month of April, tho traffic was good, tho following being the chief.items: Merchandise, U9 tons; grain, 70 tone; flax, 78 trucks; timber, 2-1,100 feet; and metal, 850 yards. The fares amounted to ,£6 2s. 2d. Tho debit balance for the month was .£37 IDs. lid., but included in tlio expenses were the following extra items:—Sleepers, .£39 35.; extra coal, .£25; and brake blocks, .£8 7s. Id.
