CIVIL BUSINESS. (Before Dr. IT Arthur, S.M,) TUB SALE OF A LAUNCH. Hoary Pratley, fisherman, of Parar paraumu, proceeded against Alexander Petersen, Richard M'Leod, and James Everett', all in the employ of the Union Steam Ship Company, Wellington, for the sum of .£95, said to 100 amount, of the purchase money of a launch, interest at 5 per cent., ana general damages. Plaintiff alleged that defendant wrongfully stated that the launch was only six years old, and was fitted with an eight 'horse-power oil-engine. He contended thnt the launch was at least ten years old, and that the engine was not niore than two horse-power. . The defendants set up a counter-claim for JJ3S, said to be money lent to nlaintiif at time cf the sale of the launch. Mr. M. Lucltie was for plaintiff; Mr. P. J. O'Regan for defendants. . After partial hearing the cose was adjourned . till to-day. ' , PRIVATE HOTEL MENAGE. Clara. Tregonning, private hotel-keeper, Wellington, was proceeded against by tho Labour Department for alleged breaches of awards. It was alleged that she had employed a waitress at the rate of 17s. Gd. and not 205., arid a laundress for 17s. Gd., instead of at 255. per week. Both informations were dismissed. Mr. D. Carmody appeared on behalf of the Department, and Mr. A. H, -Hindmarsh 'for the defendant. BUTCHER'S WAGES. John Campion sued John Philp for £$ Bs., alleged to be amount due as woges as a butcher. A sum of .£1 2s. Cd. was paid into court. After hearing tho evidence, judgment was entered for plaintiff for.>£ 2. Mr. W. T. Ncave for plaintiff; Mr. A. W. Blair for defendant. BURNED BY A CORROSIVE. Mr.,W. G. Riddcll, S.M., gave reserved judgment at the Magistrate's Court yesterday in the cose in which Henry Ilearfield, an employee of tho corporation, sued Lars Christian. Rasmussen, storeman, for ,£lO damages received through plaintiff being burned by some corrosivo liquid in a rubbish bin which ho was clearing in, the defendant's yard.
