"JUMP OVERBOARD 1" (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) • Thames, March 24. A drowning fatality occurred near ICopfl )lato on Saturday night, Alfred Aro and -a woman named Lizzie'Aro, both about) twonty years of age, being tho victims. ,A party'was in. a launch, the benzine tank of which was empty. While refill'ingit an explosion, occurred. Someone 'cried "Jump, overboard." The woman. , did so, and. Aro followed, to save her. • Ho called out that they were nil right, and were swimming to shore, but nothing further was seen of tliem. Tho river was running swiftly. So far the bodies have not been recovered. Somo other 1 occupants of the boat were slightly burned, ■ and the launch was damaged. ' : FISHING FROM A DINGHY. Auckland,. March 2-1. : A boating accident, which occurred in ■ tlic harbour this morning, resulted in tho death of an elderly man. named Charljs Watson. , >' It appears' that Watson and' two/other men, named Sandford. were fishing from p. dinghy off', Shoal Bay, and Watson, standing up to attend to, his line, capsized tho little craft. A launch that was passing quickly went to the rescue, but was too late to. save Watson, whoso death, it is believed', was duo largely to shock.

Preparations were made for the blast, but as there was a Rood: dcnl of traffic on tlio road on, Saturday Faliey decided to let it off on Sunday, nt 11. o'clock. He ignited tlio fuse, but without any- success, and leaving it for half an hour apiiroachod tlio scene to investigate. As. ho apiiroaclicd tlio "blast went off. and several big pieces of stone struck Falley. Tho unfortunate man succumbed to his injuries, half an hour later.
I SUICIDE. Duncdin, March 24. At a quarter to seven this'morning a man named Gilford, a farmer, living at Dunbnck, committed suicide-by himself.
