So popular a person was the Octoroon in her hands that several of the audience wero dissatisfied with Zoe's unfortunate end, atid refused to understand why George could not marry his devoted "Yellow Girl" in one of the many happy States where Louisiana law does not prevail; the author, in obedience to a very general request that Zo:> should bo saved, altered the dralna and brought the story to a happy conclusion.
