Practically all local business places are closed from Friday till Monday. Mr. Rees, of Manakau, has been appointed successor to Mr. Grove, manager of the Moutoa creamery. M 't jttenvorth has won the gold medaL donated by Mr. S. W. Carter for the best batting uverago , in tho local cricket club. Mr. G. Judd secured Mr. Gibson's medal for the best' bowling average, and Miv L. Randall was the winner of the medal donated by Mr. Seymour for the best all-round player, Mr. E. Warrington presided at a meeting nt. v hranui calls! for the purpose of forming a gun club. Tlio following office-bearers wero elected President, Mr. A. Seifert; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. H. Webb, H. Seifert', W. H. Gunning, G. Hook, .T. W. Murray, C. Boss, M. Moynihan, S. W. Carter, and J. Bradley; treasurer, Mr. E. Warrington; secretary, Mr. E. J. King; Management Committeo, Messrs. W. Shearman, E. J. King, Warrington, Sands, Pet.tersen, arid F. Buckman; handicappers, Messrs. Sands and Shearman; referee, 3!r. J. Linehnn. Tho club will affiliate with the New Zealand Association. Tho Shannon riflemen put up a scoro of 730 in the competition for the Fresh Food and Ice Company's Cun. Rifleman E; W. Sutton had' the capital-scorot of 101; E. Spencer, !)"; B. Spencer, 93; E.
