During his absence in Australia, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher's' portfolio will be divided between the Hon. A. L. Herdman and the Hon. I£. D. Bell. . Mr. R. M. Hackett, of the Auckland "Herald" literary staff, arrived in Wellington on Saturday Mr. D. H, Guthrie, M.P. for Oroua, is visiting Wellington-for the Easter holidays. He is a member of a Feilding Bowling Club's rink at present making a tour of tho local greens. Tho deaffi occurred at Auckland last week of Mrs. Mary Little, who passed away at tho age of 70 years. The deceased came to Auckland 48 years ego, and up to the time of her death tiok an active part in the relief of- tho pick and poor. During her life in Auckland Ghe was connected with the Brigade Home, the Sailors' Home, and tho CentraljMission, Deceased was a liativo of Kortli Ireland. Death was due to heart disease. Mr. E. C. lack, Dominion secretary of the Farmers' Union, has been seriously ill. He is now on the road to improvement, but it will be some weeks l>efore he. can resume his duties. Judge MacCormick, of tho Native Land Court, is recovering from the were attack of quinsy from which ho i.ss been suffering'. , Mr. J. Reid, second clerk at the Christchurch Magistrate's Court, has "been eppointed clerk of courts at (Hyde and Cromwell, Central Otago, and will leave on Friday to take up his new' duties.
