THE MATRICULATION EXAMINATION.
Sir,—l have been much inteiested in your leader and in the letters from various correspondents. A bov of mino was amongst the "unfortunates.' He ras been for over four years -at one of the _ largest secondary, schools. At the primary school he left about head, and has always been considered a good deal abovo th"> average in ability.' At the secondary school, last term, he was in .the \la form .for two subjects, and Vlb for tho rest, ami yet your correspondent "Lumen says "anyone of average ability can succeed with two years' training ac a secondary school." Surely somet'iin" is wrong—either with tho standard of work in tho VI form or with the examination papers.—l am, etc., 11 . DARKNESS. March 15, 1913.
