FINAL GALLOPS AT RICCARTON.

PILGRIM'S way goes well, (By Telegraph.—Press' Association.) Christchurch, Saturday. At Eiccarton to-day it was a delightful morning for tho continuation of training operations. At five o'clock this morning tnere was a slight indication ol sharpness in tho air, but later the sun rose, and weather conditions were ideal, Tho plough track, which had again been watered overnight, was most used by trainers, and it prodded really good going, though, not exceptionally fast. Briarpatch, Giencannich, and Veritas wero not fully extended while running four furlongs in 57sec., while Emperador covered six. furlongs in linin. 17sec. Cherubini joined in over the last halfmile, and beat her stable companion comfortably by a couple of lengths. Emperador appeared to Ijo' all out at tho finish, but had no chance of finishing with, tho two-year-old, who had tho advantage in tho matter'of .weight. Trcon and Mumura galloped a mile in. linin. 48sec., the former finishing in front. ' Masterpieco (R. W. King) moved pleasingly while running a mile and a quarter, but tho Clanranald colt was not out to break records, and did not do better than three-quarter paeo work. Ho is in capital condition, and has many friends for his engagements on Monday and Tuesday. Glenfinnan galloped a milojat a good three-quarter pace,' and Zeus and Historietto ran five furlongs very pleasingly in lmin. sisec.,' tho former having slightly, the better of the gallop. Peg (Anderson)'jumped off at tho six furlong post, and finished a very nice gallop in lmin. 17 2-ssec. Though not overburdened with Weight, the brown filly registered an attractive performance, and sho could have improved on her timo'if sho had been ridden out. Sho was assisted over tho last half-mile by Ngatapa (J ; . M'Seyeney), and the pair finished together. Pilgrim's Way (F. Woods) was going great guns at the end of-seven. furlougs, run in lmin. 31Jsec., aaul registered one of the best gallops of the morning. Banksia cantered past tho throe furlongs,' and twenty yards further on jumped off, and sprinted to the winning post. She was timed from the three-furlongs post, and covered tho journey in 37 3-ssec., and showed herself possessed of exceptional pace.

Great Work By Autumnus, Autumnus (C. Emerson) gave Nightwatch (G. Clarke) several lengths' start, and finished several lengths ahead alter running sis furlongs in lmin. 15 3-sscc. Wlieii it is remembered that tho track was not favourable for record breaking, it must be admited that this is one of the test galiops registered at Eiccarton for some little time past, and the maimer in which the three-year-old finished his task indicates that he is right at the top of his form. Gold Pin and Mira covered a mile in lmin. 46 2-ssec., and as both horses were going really well at tho finish the gallop must bo reckoned a really good one. Mowbray (D.--Anderson) and Salzburg (P. Thompson) were companions ill a five-iurlongs ilutter, tho former winning very easily in lmin. ssec. Sea King (J. O'Brien) ran six furlongs pleasingly in lmin. lG}sec., and Carolus anil Editaii covered a similar journey in lmin. 22see. Bradamanto (I). Andrews) registered a nice: gallop by getting to the end of five furlongs in lmin. ssec. Golden Morn lived up to her reputation by rattling over fivo furlongs iu lmin. t l-ssec. Brown Owl's task comprised a round at three-quarter pace, while Medallist ran fivo iiurlongs on the sand, tho last halfmilo taking 55sec. Sanguinary, assisted by Lady Nolan, ran six furlongs on the sand in lmin. 15Ssec. This was tho fastest gallop of the morning, but it must be remembered that the sand provided much faster going than the plough, and several of the gallops registered on tho latter track wove much more meritorious. Ogier defeated Einaldo over four furlongs iu 50 3-ssee„ a smart performance, while Canute (B. Dceley) and Daylight Bill (G Clarke), assisted by Andrea over tho last six furlongs, ran a mile and a quarter in '-mill. 15kc. Jason (C. Emerson) defeated Ventura (L. Wilson) by several lengths over four furlongs in 53sec., but the "latter was not unduly extended. Bronzo (L Wilson) and Cheddar (C. Emerson) wero then sent out' for a gallop over a milo and a quarter. Although tho latter finished half a length ahead of the fillv, it appeared that Bronze could have won if needed.

pther Gallops. -Borcola (A. MTlinn) was schooled over one hurdle, but jumped very badly, and was given half-pace work 011 the plough. Oxenhopo rattled over six furlongs in lmin. ISsec. Master Paul went °oiice l-ouiul at a good useful pace, the last six furlongs taking lmin. 2-lsec. Warstep (light-weight) ran six furlongs in lmin. IG l-ssec„ a nice gallop, while Sir Solo was given steady work, and The Hague (C. Emerson) defeated Bertrada (Deeicv) and Kooya (L. Wilson) vory comfortably over six furlongs in lmin. 17 l-ssec. Gnome (R. W. King) and Chrysotis (J. M'Cluskey) covered six furlongs in lmin. 21sec„ while Query (It. W. King), from a standing start, went a similar jouniev 111 lmin. 17 l-ssec. This last gallop must be reckoned a good one, as all (lie other gallops of tho lliorning wero run from fljing starts. After breakfast the weather was very warm, and in consequence tho plough track dried considerably, making the going considerably faster. Prince Eddie (A. M'l'linn) and St.'Kevin (G. A. J'iiie) woro schooled over four flights of hurdles tlia latter giviaj a much better display

than ho did on Thursday. Prince Eddio jumped very badly, miming down tho hurdles each time, and striking very hard. The Cornet (Kaan) was going better than Kilmeny (Deeley) after covering six furlongs in Imin. 19sec., Warliglit and Forest Bello finishing together, alter putting up similar times. Stephanos (G. Clarke) and John Bunyan went fivo furlongs in lmin, 4sec., and Gapon did steady pacing.
