SOME RECORD SLOW BATTING. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Dunedin, December 26. The cricket match, Otago v. Canterbury, was continued to-day in splendid weather, and tho wicket was in fine order. When play ceased yesterday, Canterbury hud bwjH disposed of ill tho first Innings, for 137. while- Otago had inado tho same

number of rims for the loss of five wickets. Ramsden (40) and M'Farlane (15), who were not out last evening, resumed batting for Otago. The Otago innings closed for 204. With a deficit of G4 to wipe' off, Canterbury opened their second innings with Hickmott and Caygill, who faced Downes and Raiusden. The visitors started badly, Hickmott being smartly caught at' the wickets. With the score at' four, Hayes filled the- vacancy, and, when he had scored a single, he gave a chance to Chadwick off Downes. Only seven runs were scored in half an hour. Frequent changes in the bowling were made, but a separation was not effected till the score stood at 81, when Caygill was caught by Downes off Bannerman.
