Island Bay must be a rather. mysterious quarter; at least, so it would €eem from the exciting event which, took place yesterday. Santa Claus —venerable friend of.the children and 1 highly : respected by "grown-ups"—made his, appearance at this seaside resort and entered the city on a gaily decorated chariot. The inscription emblazoned thereon read/'Follow me to the D.1.C.," and a crowd of excited and delighted youngsters took the invitation to heart and assembled at the main entrance of the. building awaiting the-arrival of their dear friend, Father Christmas. But the supressed excitement, tho eager anticipation on the faces of the children, spoke volumes for the traditions of Yuletide. "When is he coming, mother?" "Will he be long?" These and similar remarks were heard while Santa Claus traversed the city in state with his attendant fairies. Hugo crowds followed his Majesty Kris Kringle, and when he finally arrived at his destination —tho Magic Cave on the First Floor of the D.l.C.—the excitement of the children (aye, and the elders too) was almost boundless. Of course,' every kiddie was eager to explore the mysterious cave and each visitor was received therein by Father Christmas, who cordially greeted thorn, made suggestions regarding the hanging of the stocking, sweeping tho chimney and asking the little ones to express- their heart's desire. Some of tho orders were rather "tall," but a kindly word from Santa. Claus, sent them on their way rejoicing each to receive a present from the hands of tho Christmas Fairies in the cave, thence to further explore its intricacies and mysteries. Father Christmas can be seen any afternoon between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 n.m. Let us suggest to all parents all over* the city and district to arrange a visit to' the wonderful cave for their children—' it's worth while many times over.—Advt.
