ABUSE OF LANGUAGE.
Sir,—What warrant or light lave the routed strikers at Waihi to'refer to their opponents in aid of law and order as "things," and their proceedings generally as "thuggery"? A "thing" is one of a class of professional robbers and assassin's at one timo. common in India, and has since been used in.England and.America as a designation 'for highway robbery, accompanied by violence or murder. No greater insult could be offered than such a title, and one who can use it as it has lately been used in connection with the tarn of the tables at Waihi must have a very debased mind, and deserves an action for malicious 'libel.'—l ani, etc.,;
