CONFERENCE OF COMPANIES. There are no new developments locally in tlio dispute between the Slaughtermen's Federation and the Frozen Meat Companies of Now Zealand as to rates of pay. As was anticipated, all the unions have now cancelled registration under tho Arbitration Act, but no difficulties are being encountered by the companies hero in getting the necessary men to kesp the works running. Tlw season is one of the slowest on record to date, but it is gradually improving. There is. nothing yet, however, at all resembling a rush. *A conference is contemplated of representatives of companies .ill over New Zealand to be held in Christchurch on December 19, and discuss the demands of the slaughtermen and the companies' action in relation to them.
