Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland, wlieil he was delivering a rectorial address at Glasgow. There were uproarious scenes, and ten women wore ejected. The students afterwards smashed the windows of the Suffragette offices. The police used their batons on the crowd, and two students were arrested. Emily .Davidson, tho Suffragette who was fined 40s. at Aberdeen for assault, chose to undergo ten days' imprisonment instead.
