AUSTRALIANS AT PRACTICE. Quite a large number of local swimming enthusiasts gathered at the-Te Aro Baths yesterday afternoon, when Messrs. ■ Solomons, Hay, and Riddington, the visiting Australians, put in some practice work. Hay swam an easy ■■ 100 yds., his 'time being 6isec. All three men appeared to stand the 'cold water better than the local men; Solomons particularly literally wallowed .in-the brine; Ridding- ; ton gave a sample of his skill as a diver, turning a somersault and a half in a high dive, and entering the water neater than most local exponents of the art do in a plain dive. ;.
