BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

A'public meeting is to be held to-night at 8 o'clock in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, under tho presidency of his Worship the Mayor, to discuss various phases of the Biblo-in-Schools miestion. Messrs. A. R. Atkinson, John Hutcheson, Hindmarsh, Lee, and members of the teaching profession are likely to take part in the discussion. Resolutions to tho following effect will be among, those submitted to the meeting. 1. That this meeting is of opinion that there should be no departure from the existing free, secular, and comnulsory system of State education. ' " ' . 2. As the • proposals of the Bible-in-Schools League raise issues involving both for parents and teachers matters of conscience, this meeting is of opinion that no such issues should be determined by means of a general plebiscite or referendum. 3. This meeting resolves to form itself into a society for the defence of our existing national system of education.
