AUCKLAND WOOL SALE.
! (By OorrcsDondcnt.) 1 'Auckland, November 26. The first wool Bale of tlra' present season will bo held at tho Town Hall. to-morrow. The total number of bales .to be offered is 8309. These figures show a remarkable mcroaee over those' for tlio first ~6ale la£t year, when the bad state of tho coumtry roads held back the clips from tho more remote farms, with the result that, the catalogues for the second eales were much swelled.- This -year the roads have been, better, but even so' a deal of wool tluit was expected, in time for to-morrow s markotinK is still in the growers' hondfl. linc-i of it, in fact, is still upon the sheep, lhe rea-oon lias been the wet and shearing late, and ill some districts at leaut the tang) over the late Mahuta, lias .-had a maTkcd effect-, because the Maori shearers laid aside their shears and went to. Waahi for an indefinite period. OwiiiK to the .- wet weather and the delays in having shearing done, the wool has meetly come to tlio city with a, rush. Tlui sea-son has been very favourable to the production of clean wool, light in iproaso. and in these .respects the material sent m is exceptionally cood. The bulk of it will weigh up much lighter than usual, and though the farmer wilt not have' 1 so many pounda to his credit ho will. probably reap, an advantage in prices high enough to more:- than'coun-ter-balance tho lightness of his sales. A distinct improvement is said t^ -have been, made in the classification of the .wool.
