WANGANUI JOTTINGS.
IBy Teleerapa.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, November 7, The Gonville Town Board decided last night to endeavour to raise a loan of •£25,000 through the Government Advances Office for the. extension of the sewerage, lighting, and water services. Remarking on tho existing tightness of money, the chairman (Mr. A. &. Bignell) stated that he knew of a case in which another Wa*ngahui local body, looking for investment for its sinking funds, was successful in getting.six and a half per cent.' : for a period of seven years; on security of broad acres worth at least four times the amount advanced, viz., .£3OOO. In view of that fact, it seemed impossible that, the board wold raise its loan on anything like reasonable terms, unless it did so under tho State Advances Office.
