He asked for Imperial reciprocity, and sirid the British pioneers were not receiving tho recognition and support they were entitled to from the Motherland, in developing tho Empire's resources. Britain should assist in opening direct trade between the Dominions and Manchester, GlasgoWi Bristol, and Hull. Sho should encourage trade iu Australian wines and dried fruits by meaus of noxinvum arid minimum tariffs. The chairman reminded Sir John Taverner that fiscal questions were outside the Commission's order of reference. IMPERIAL NAVAL' FUND, (Reo,- November 1, 10 pan*) London, November 1. Sir John Taverner supported the imposition of ft prireaga duty oh all foreign imports, of which two-thirds should be devoted to the upkeep of the Navy, and the Toihainder to promote trade within, the tempire. He advocated an all-British cable service, and reductions in the postal charges on Australian newspapers.
