APPOINTED DEAN OF DURHAM.

Canon Henson is one of the most striking personalities in -the Church of England at the present timo. He is 49 .years of age. After a successful career at Oxford University he became head of Ox- , ford House, Bethnal Green (1887-88); Vicar • of Barking (1888-95); Incumbent of Hospital Chapel,' Ilford (1895-1900);, select preacher at Oxford (1895-1896); Canon of Westminster and Rector of St. Margaret s (since 1900); sub-Dean of Westminster (1911). He is a Broad Churchman and has published a number of books on various subjects. '
