CATHOLIC SEAMEN.
The fortnightly concert, under the auspices of the Catholic. Seamen's Conference, was held in the Sailors' Rest on Monday evening, and was well attended. Tho programme .wns much appreciated, and, judging by the applause, the general opinion seemed to bo that it was one of the most enjoyablo concerts which the society has yet held. Tho following items were contributed:—Overture by Mr. Scriingcour; songs by Misses O Fnrroll mid .Tenson, Messrs. Henderson, Digby, F. Wnlshe, A. Henderson, and "Ninety" Conway; recitations by Messrs. Gamble, Bradley, and ICelly; a banjo solo by Mr. Connor. Tho accompaniments were played by Messrs. Vatiso and Scrimgeour. hi conclusion, Mr. D. Kelly, who presided, thanked the artists, and stated that praise was duo to Mr. Bradley, who had organised the programme. Ho also thanked Captain' Bonner for placing the Sailors' Rest at their disposal.
The Dowager-Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava writes. "I think M'Cliuton's Soap excellent, and always use them myself."* The Academy of Arts' annual exhibition is open daily during the current week up to 9.30 o'clock nt night. There is a. sprinkling of red seals denoting sales among the. pictures, and the art union, which it is anticipated will be the largest yet held, will be drawn on Friday evening next at 8 o'clock. The celebrated Terawhiti station— M'Menamcn's—situated on the coast, a very few miles from Wellington, is to be sold by public auction as a going concern on November 27 next. This property comprises, approximately, 6G92 acre 9 of sheepraising and pastoral land, well watered, with homestead, farm buildings, landing places, wool and shearing sheds, and all farming accessories <rn<l machinery. The stock consists of some fIOOO Hom'ney and halfbred sheep, and 2240 lambs. There arc also 31 head of cattle, and seven saddle and draught horses, now depasturing on the property. Full particulars can bo obtained, and arrangements for visiting tho station made, upon application to Messrs. Levin and Co., or Messrs.
