A thousand students from the university forced their way into the Opera House, but wero repulsed by the police and stage hands nrmed with clubs, and revolvers. ' ' ; The University of Illinois ia one of the most' enterprising and flourishing of the universities in the Western. States of America. It is attended by 4600 students. Champaign is 126_ miles from Chicago, and has a population of 15,000.
