PRISONS AMENDMENT. The Prisons Amendment Bill was received with amendments from the Legislative Council.

The Hon. A. L. HERDMAN (Minister for Justice) moved that, the amendments made by tho Upper House be agreed to, explaining that the effect of the amendment made was merely to provide for the destruction of all finger-print records taken of persons in custody who were not subsequently convicted of any offence. The amendments were agreed' to.

HAWKE'S BAY RIVERS. The Hawke's Bay Rivers Amendment Bill was received from tho Legislative Council and read a first time. TAXING BILL. The Land Tax and Income Tax Bill was introduced by Governor's Message and read a first time.
