From the "bully" \\ airarnpa set up an attack, but a frro hit to Hawke's Bay relieved. The ball came along the side line, and out to .Miss Harrison, lyho centred, hut the shot at goal went dutside. From a throwin near Nairarapa's twontr-five, that team cot the ball, and brought it well up-held, only to see it returned, chiefly on account of u good rush 011 the part of tho JiawKO s Hay lorwards, in which Sirs. Maddison figured prominently. The ru«h [was eventually stopped, and Wairarapa then jot on a fine passing run. Jli« 7, Humphries brought the ball along the side line, and centred, but Hawke's Bay cleared, and gave a corner. Wairarapa continued to attack, but a hot shot from the circle went over, and a twenty-live *'bully" resulted. Hiss C. Wairavapa got going again, and Hiss K. Humphries brought the bail along and pnsspd it in. The forwards got it. but split it. down too hard, and it was over-ran. Hawke's Bay then attacked, mid good passing from the left to the right-wing resulted in a centre. -Hiss Crawley shot, but missed, and Wni-
rarnpa gare a corner. Wairarapa then worked back, and some good mid.field play followed. Hawke's Bay again attacked ami Miss Pitt shot, but tlio ball went outside. From a. twenty-five "bully" Miss 'L. Humphries brought the ball along the side ' liue, but failed to centre. Obstruction gave Wairarapa. a free hit, and Hawke's Bay got the ball away, and Miss Pitt, coming along with a very fine run, beat all but the goalkeeper. Wairarapa conceded a corner, but made a good recovery, the left forward wingers getting oIT some fine runs. The Hawke's Bay backs, however, were very safe, and the rushes by the opposite side wero checked. The 'Wairarapa forwards now ennw down with a great run, and reached the circle, but Miss Swain relieved by a fine shot down the line. Hawke's Bay continued to press, but Miss K. Humphries cleared splendidly. The Wairarapa forwards then got going with a fast run, which, however, was stopped, and the ball was returned to the Blues' end, where a corncr was given. Wairarapa tried hard to break away, but were kept back, aud Hawke's Bay pressed hard. The Wairarapa girls eventually got free,' Miss Neilson reaching the twenty-five by a fino run. From a subsequent throw-in, she reached the circle, but was not: properly backed up, and the Hawke's Bay goalkeeper cleared. Half-time was' called, without auy score Wing been registered. Oh resuming, Miss liewson intercepted a pass in,beautiful style,' and sent the kill out to Miss Keilson, but it went out. Hawke's Boy charged, but: Miss Humphries stopped the rush. Thev continued to attack, however, and Miss Pitt passed to Miss Harrison, but the ball went outside. Hawke's Bay now had a chance to shoot, but Miss Feast relieved, and, from a throw-in, the ball went to Miss 1. Bur- ■ den, who returned it with a fine long drive. Wairarapa then got going, but •: were gradually driven back to their circlc, Hawke s Bay pressed hard, but Miss Diggins and Miss Terry cleared, the danger for the time being averted. Onco more Hawke's Bay renewed the attack, ! and broke into the circle again, but Misi H. Miss Burden, however, stopped the rush. Another attack by Wairarapa was broken up bv Mis s Crawley, and Miss Neilson got the ball away with a fine run, beating all the backs, and shot, but the effort went wide. From a twenty-five "bully" Miss V. Pitt and Miss Thompson got the ball, and brought it dowu to the Wairarapa twentyfive, where Miss Feast relieved bv a splendid long shot. 'Play was in Wairarapa's territory when time was called, without any score being recorded. Each team will keep the cup for six months.
