It has been decided to connect Wosterland, on the Sylt Island, with Schles-wig-Holstein, by an embankment costing .£250,000, in order to prolong the mainland railway, with a view to fortifying and garrisoning the island. ■ (Rec. September 15, 5.5 p.m.) Berlin, September U: General von Schatt, writing in the "Borlinor Tageblatt," urges the Admiralty not to wait till an embankment has been built to Westerland before erecting fortifications. It was no secret that land intended to use Borkum as a baso unci therefore-tho notorious leak in the North Sea "defence should be promply scaled. General von Schatt recommends the immediate construction of a war harbour at List on the island of Sylt.
