MARANUI SURF CLUB.
The animal report of the Jlaranui Surf and Life-saving Club, which is to bo presented at the meeting this evening, records a period of progress. Tlio club was formed on October 3, .1011, when !l!i mem-' bers were enrolled. At August 31 this year the membership stood at 240, these including 75 ladies. A substantial clubhouse, has been erected nt Lynll Bay, the club's headquarters, and provides accommodation for both lady and male members. The financial tables accompanying the report show assels to the. value o'l .lilie nncl liabilities JMO. Fortnightly social evenings held throughout the w'iiitf-r have been popular, and a splendid means of keeping members in touch with one another during the oft' season, The trophy presented by Mr. J. A. Smith was won by Mr. S. P. Chapmen's team. Dr. Newman's trophy was not competed for owing to 'insufficient entries. . -Twenty-three nwnrtli of the Royal Life-saving Society wore trained, by members during the year.
