ANOTHER THEATRE
TO BE ERECTED IN MINNEKS ■ STREET. On Thursday evening tho City Council finally approved of tho plans for a picture thcatro which is to be erected in Manners Street, next to the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, with n right-of-way from Willis Street, also next to the hotel mentioned. The actual site of tho new theatre will bo'the broad right-of-way on tho east side of tho hotel and Mr. Morgan's novelty stores, which aro to eomo down. This will give a frontage to Manners Street of about 50ft. and a depth of 120 ft. The centre of the frontage will ho occupied bv a shop with entrances on either side, admitting to the auditorium, and to a central stairway, which will lead to tho gallery, which will bo thrown back over the shop. There will also bo a 12ft. entrance from Willis Street, part of tho section now vacant.! The rest of it will bo occupied by shop and office accommodation. A feature of tho new theatre which will 1* erected in brick, concrete, and steel, will bo a. refreshment foyer at tho back of tho gallery where people may enjoy refroshruonts while watching tho pictures. It is proposed to run tho new 'theatre on tho continuous principle. Messrs. Hoggard and Pronso aro tho architects.
