BUSINESS FOREIGN AND LOCAL. NEW SOUTH WALES ACCOUNT. Messrs. Neil Galbraith (chairman), E. M. Isaacs, E. AVvlie, M. J. Crombic, and Dr. M'Evedy were present at the meeting of the executive council of tho New' Zealand Kugby Union hold last evening. A Nice Point. Letters wero forwarded through) the Nelson Union from' the Motueka SubUnion, slating a case for decision by tho Now Zealand Union. In a match between the Wanderers and Huia Clubs, tho captain of the former team, Ledcrman, was ordered off the field for answering tho referee' back. Tho nialch Was won by the Huia. team by a try and a penalty goal. When the matter came before the sub-union, the referee being absent, tho case was dismissed, and the Wanderers Club is asking if it can appeal against the match counting as a win for Huia seeing that tho Wanderers had to play without their captain. It was decided to ask the Nelson Union amder which tulo the appeal was made to tho New Zealand Union. Letter from England, Mr. C. Wray Palliser, tho New Zealand representative in London, writing on July 23, said, inter alia:—"l have received a letter from Mr. Marriott with respect to the matter of New Zealand combining with New South Wales in wnclimj a, team to this country, and as I was assured that you had no desire lo 1)0 associated with another Slate, I had no hesitation in replying to that effect.'" A copy of Mr. Marriott's letter (which has already been published) and Mr. Talliser's reply was enclosed. On tho motion of the chairman the letter forwardedby Mr. Palliser to Mr. Marriott was approved. Jt was decided to send tho Oll'ect of the correspondence to tho New South Wales Union. Settling a Dispute. In reply to a letter forwarded by tho secretary "of tho New Zealand Union Mr. W. W. 'Hill, secretary of tho New South Wales Eugby Union wrote that he and Dr. Bohrsmann (the manager of the team that is going to America) had teen given full power to settle the whole matter of accounts between the two unions. They would both bo in Wellington on September 12 and 13. Tho letter also asked the union's assistance in securing a training ground for the touring team while it is in Wellington. Tho secretary (Mr. Avery) was asked to make arrangements for the use of the Athletic. Park with tho trustee* of that ground. Messrs. Gaibraith, Wylie, and C'rombie wero appointed a sub-commitlco to meet the New Soutli Wales delegates in the matter of the difference over the accounts in connection with the visit of the American University team. A Warning. The secretary of tlio Marlborough Union telegraphed on Monday:—"Northern League agent has been endeavouring to arrange practice game. Wire me authoritatively if players taking part will bo disqualified. This union can be relied on for very firm stand." Tho answer sent was tli.it players in such a match would bo liable to expulsion. Will the "Blues" Play Here? Permission has been given tho. Wellington Rugby Union lo play n match against tho New. South Wales team which is visiting America, if the same can bo arranged whilst the touring team is in Wellington. The opinion seeiued'to bo that the visitors were not likely to have sufficient timo to play a match, as the boat arrived on a Thursday and left on a Friday.
