The s-emi-finals were witnessed by n wry largo •erowd of spectators, while a* good number also witnessed the Coronation Medal match in the afternoon. i The result of the semi-finals leaves Miss Pearce and Miss Collins to play off, and the game takes place to-morrow morning. Miss Pearco and Miss Burnes. The game between Miss I'earce and Miss Burnes was the first gamo to-day. Both players drove off well, and their stylo of play was similar throughout, though Miss Burnes drove a longer ball than her opponent. Miss Pearce's approaching, however, was more accurate. The first liolo was won by Miss Pearco (5—C). The second was halved in six. No. !i went to Miss Burnes (G—7), thus making the game all square. Tho fourth ("The Saddle") got Miss Burnes into difficulties, she pulling her second shot, into the scrub, and Miss Ponrco won the hole in five. At the fifth Miss Penree's drive cleared the fence, which her opponent struck in her second. This holo was won by Miss Pearce, who was now 2 up. Nos. 6 and 7 were halved in five, but No. 8 was won by Miss Burnes (5-6). Tho putting of Miss Burnes, at this stage of the game, was very accurate. "The Turn" (No. 9), which was halved in five, saw Miss Pearce one up. At tho tenth both iplayers drove good balls on to the green, but Miss Burnes got off a long putt, and won the holo in three. Tho game was now all square. Tho eleventh was halved in four, but the twelfth saw Miss Pearce in difficulties. Sho got her second shot under the fencA and then into a bunker on tho side of the hill, and the hole was won by Miss Burnes in five. The same player won the thirteenth in four, again coming to light with a long putt. On the fourteenth teo Miss Burnes was two up. At this stage Miss Pearce, however, drove well down tho fairway, and won tho hole (5—6), leaving Miss Burnes one up. Tho fifteenth went to Miss Pearco in six, Miss Bnrnes striking a tee-box in her third, and then badly slicing her fourth. Tho game was now causing much excitement among tho spectators, being all square and three to play. Miss Poarcb look the honour at tho 16th, and drove nicely over tho swamp, and her example was followed by her opponent. Both got good seconds, Miss Pearce being a little short in her third, but Miss Burnes was unable to take advantago of tho opportunity and foozled the like. Miss Pearco won the hole in five.
With tho last two holes to go'the game stood Miss Pearce one up. At the 17th Miss Pearce played an iron and landed nicely on the green. Miss Burnes, pulling her "Mashie," left her with-a difficult approach to get on even terms. Miss Pearce hero put an end to the growing excitement by holing out with a beautiful putt from a distance of about ten feet, thus winning tho game by 2 up and 1 to play. Miss Collins and Mrs. Slack. Tho match between Miss Collins and Mrs. hlack was also full of interest and possibilities, right through to the 17th hole, where Miss Collins secured tho vietorv. Tho play was delightfully varied. After Mrs. black had won the first hole Miss Collins secured the next five in succession. A couple- of holes were then halved, and then Mrs. Slack won four in Succession and squared the game. ! From now on the gamo was played with the utmost care by both contestants and each ho o was grimly fought for. At the 13th hole Mrs. Slack had a chance for 5 to wm, but halved in 7 through bad putt ng. At the 11th Mrs. Slack had another chance of winning, but failed with her putt, and halved at the 15th. Miss Colms, in tho 16th. had an opportunity to hole out ahead, but halved in 5, her nutting again being tho stumbling block. tho tension which was evidence by both players they drove splendidly across tho water hazard to "Watern* i « rs - -^ lnc i k took a wido c °«rse to ho left with her second, and foozled her third badly, not having a chauco of gaining even a half.
