GOVERNMENT CARTING.

On coming into office, the Hon. F. If. B. Fisher gave instructions that tenders should bo called for carting work in connection with the Government Printing and Stationery Department, which is under his coutroj. This was done accordingly, and a contract has now boon let. Contractors were asked to tendpA for tho supply of a covered van at affixed weekly rate, and for other carting" work at a tonnage rat*. The contract is for twelvo months, from September, 1911 The accepted'tender is that of L. C. Burke and Co., .£3 7s. Gd. per week, and for other cartage Is. 3d. per ton, from either the King's or Queen's Wharf. Following were tho unaccepted tenders:—Blako and Carlisle, ,£IG ss. per month, £3 15s. per week, other carting from King's and Queen's Wharf, Is. 3d. per ton; Colonial Carrying Co., M ss. per week, from Queen's Wharf, Is. 3d. per ton, from King's Wharf, Is. Gd. per ton; John J. Collie, ,C 3 Us. per week, from King's ,or Queen's Wharf, Is. per ton; Orr, .Allan, and Son, M ss. per week, King's or Qnooii's Wharf, Is. 3d. per ton; J. Keir, .£3 ss. per week, from Queen's Wharf, Is. 3d. per ton, from Kins's Wharf, Is. fid. per Inn: IT. F.. Foinervillc, .C 5 per week, from Queen s Whnrf, Is; 3d. per ton, from King's Wharf, Is.
