NATIVES ATTACK POLICE PATROL.
Br Telegra-Db-Preis Aesociation-CpßTtlrtt Thursday Island, September 1. White a police patrol party under Mr. Burrows, .Assistant-Magistrate, was returning down. the. Fly River with prisoners charged with murder, cannibalism, and. minor offences, the natives unexpectedv attacked it with arrows.
Four of the prisoners escaped, and several of the native police wero slightly wounded. Mr.- Burrows was unhurt.
The party repulsed the attack. No serious trouble is expected.
