The local branch of. the Wompu's Christian Temperance Union has passed aresolution protesting against the issue of more totalisator permits, and tlia.publication of totalisator odds. Copies of the resolution are to 1)0 tent 1 to tho Prime Minister and tho member for Palmerston North. A procession, prior tn a costume football match, attracted a big crowd to the Sriunre this'afternoon. There was a long concourse of cabs. lorries, brakes. cle„ these including a trotting sulky with the drivers anil occupants gaily and Grotesquely apparelled. The gain? was tho return match betweni the cabmen and carriers, and was in aid of an injured comrade who had had his collarbone broken in the first same. ,
