Some Opposition 1 members consider that Mr. Craigio was guilty of a technical mistake in moving 1 his leasehold amendment yesterday, presumably because, under the Standing Or- i ders, no other amendment can now bo i moved during.the progress of .the debate. It seems to be' the general opinion in the lobbies that the action of the member for Timaru has strengthened tho hands of the .Government,, and has further disorganised the already disorganised Opposition. ' ■ THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Tho Legislative Council is to resume today after an adjournment of about two weeks. It is' expected that tho Bill reforming the' constitution, of tho Upper House will be gono on wifh at once, ond that to-day's sitting will be continued into the.evening. NURSES IN THE BACK-BLOCKS. Mr. Wilson is asking tho Government to consider a schemo of stationing nurses in the back-blocks during the winter, when wives of settlers are in a very trying position owing to the difficulty of getting oi\t to the towns, and the great expenso incurred in leaving home, many of theni having children too young to be left. AN AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE. Mr. Nosworthy has intimated that he will ask tho Government to consider the advisability of establishing a College of Agriculture, similar to the 'Eawliesbury College in .Now South Wales, in or near Ashburton.
