'ANNUAL MEETING'. The annual meeting of the' Wellington Anglican Boys' Homes' Society was held iq the Sydney Street School-room last evening. Archdeacon Fancourt was in the chair: The report stated that the society was formed, on the suggestion of Mr. AV. H. Walton; at a meeting presided over by tiro Bishop on August 8, 1911. The object of the society is the rescue of boys of tender years from surroundings in which it seems unlikely that they will grow up strong and good men. Since tho intorporation of the society tho board has acquired a property on the Melling Road, Lower Hutt, and the home'was formally opened by the Bishop on May 4 last. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Fawcett. have been placed in charge of the four boys at present in the home as muster and matron. Tho rental of the property already acquired is ,£4l 125., per annum, with, a right of obtaining the freehold on the payment of <£600. The agreement makes provision for the payment of .£IOO at the end of tho first year, and of a similar amount at tho end of the second year. The balance is to bear interest at the rato cf 5S per cent. The society has the right to pay off the whole of the purchase money at any time. The sum of ,£l7O has been received in donations sinco the inception of the society. The whole of this amount has been experded in the furnishing and the maintenance of tho home since it was opened. The current year's liabilities aie: Rent of house and ground, J241; first instalment of purchase money, .EKIO; salary of master and matron, £X'1(I. '.'.'lie maintenance of the home' has been set down at .£150; Tho board would be glad to be assured of. an income of £400 a" year, i and with this end in view an appeal has been made to members of the Anglican Church. A constitution, together with n set of rules for the. conduct of the society and "its affairs, wero devised and drafted by Mr! J. Tripe, and have been adopted by the committee. The adoption of the committee was endorsed by tho society last evening. Tho committee expressed their appreciation of the services of the secretary, Mr. AV. H. "Walton, and Mr. Digby Jenkins, and also of tho aid afforded the home by the Rev. • Joshua Jones, Mrs. Jones, and other friends at Lower ■ Hutt. Ono of the rules of the' constitution stipulates that there shall be an agreement between tho board and tho person committing the boy, and that no boy shall bo received* into the home for a period less than two years—which is considered the minimum time necessary for the l.oys" training.' A sum of 2s. per week will bo imposed upon the parents or guardians of the boys kept in the home, for their maintenance. ■The following officers were elected for the current year;— Patron, The Bishop of AVellington; president, Rev. Archdeacon Fancourt; vice-presidents, tho -Venerable Archdeacon Harper, Kev. (~'. F. Messrs. J. Tripe, and J. AV. Henderson. Mr. W. H. Walton v.-as elected secretary, and Sir. D. A. Jenkins treasurer. Tlie following were appointed a committee:— Misses Brown, Pollen., Mrs. Henderson, Slessrs. E. Anderson, J. W. A. Marchaut, and J. Baxter.
